Superman Returns in style

How do you make a movie about a grown man, who has 2 identities, and one of them involves wearing blue tights, red underwear (on the outside),boots and a cape to top it off ? Not to mention a ridiculous twirl in his hair. Perhaps more importantly, how do you make such a movie, not look dumb and impossibly retarded in this day and age?

Simple really. You get Bryan Singer to do it.

Even though we didnt get to watch it in the THX cinema last night, i thoroughly enjoyed myself. Its not very often that i go to a movie with high expectations, and leave with it intact! An example of a movie that totally backfired recently was Xmen 3. *sigh* What a dumbass movie.

No, i shall not reveal any spoilers. I'm a nice movie critic, so rest assured, you can read on.

Stars of the show

To be honest, the entire cast was superb.

Brandon Routh does a good job portraying a hurt and sad Superman, as well as playing the geeky clumsy Clark Kent. From zero to hero. Literally. Just hope the 'curse' that affected all those actors who played Superman doesnt affect him.

Kevin Spacey was awesome as Lex Luthor. As the movie wore on, you really really start to hate him more and more. Thats how good he played his part.

However, i think the stars of the show, was deffinately the screenplay writers. They did a great job. The story and the script was great. It was unique, funny and had very good plot twists.

Costume

The costume was different. It was never going to be cool, but i guess its the person that makes the clothes look good. The red underwear seems to have changed shaped a bit, from that normal men's brief's V design, to a more tight fitting boxer short style.

The cape seems almost leatherly. I can't decide if thats a good thing or a bad thing. Though, if i was Superman, i would have liked it to be a little bit longer. Hmm, on the other hand, if i was Superman, i wouldnt wear that ridiculous outfit. I'd steal Batman's costume.

Action figures sold seperately

One thing though, if you're going to watch this movie expecting lots of action and things blowing up ala Mission Impossible 3, you're going to be very dissapointed. I suspect a lot of people will not enjoy the movie because of this. Dumb asses. Everyone these days just wants action and lots of sex in the movies. If you want that, go watch Porn.

The movie is a good mix of action and drama, along the lines of Xmen and Spiderman. My friend commented, that its sorta like Korean movies = story, action, cry, story, action, cry, story. Not too sure how accurate that statement was, as i havent watched any Korean stuff before, but in regards to this movie, i'd say its one way to describe it.

As much as i'd like to see more Superman movies, i hope that they wont make anymore. Please do no spoil it by making a sequel just for the sake of it. But if they do, please please please make sure Bryan Singer is at the helm!
