England Oh England, Why have you Forsaken me?

My heart and my respect goes on to the ENTIRE England team. They finally showed their true colours. They played a superb game of football, even though they were down to 10 men in the second half.

Until the sending off of Rooney, England were by far the better team, even if the stats did not back up that claim. On top of that, they were STILL the better team after the second half.

It must have been gut wrenching to go out that way. Portugal were a pale shadow of themselves. I think that is down to the performance of the England players, in particular, Owen Hargreaves, who on the basis of this performance, should be a permanent feature of future England squads. He was the engine room of England, tirelessly running down everything, even in extra time. I want to know what the hell these Bayern Munich bastards are feeding him. He must be man-of-the-match.

Also, i think Sven and Mclaren got their tactics absolutely spot on. Scolari couldn't do anything. Perhaps Portugal missed the influence of Deco more than they expected.

The good and the bad

My bro think Gerrard had a bad game. I beg to differ. I think he was the one midfielder that was actually creating chances for England. As when England were down to 10 men, i think he tired out very fast, which was not unexpected, as he was closing down lots of space, and if you consider the long season that he's had, well...he isnt Superman.

Aaron Lennon was superb when he came on. He's taken to the international scene like fish in water. Beckham, i'm sorry, but i don't see you in future England squads.

Ashley Cole and Ferdinand were immense in defence. Crouch was excellent when he came on.

Lampard, *sigh*. I really can't say anything. You couldnt even score from the penalty spot. You'll be going home as one of the biggest dissapointments of the tournament. Shame on you.

The entire Portugese squad, hmmm...i honestly can't pick any outstanding players out. Though, i have to say, they do a very good job of acting. Disgraceful. I can't believe this cheating team is going through.

Penalties, oh how i hate thee

In the end, England only have themselves to blame. They took some very poor penalties. And kudos to Ricardo, his guesses was right.

This was by far, the most tiring game of football i have watched, on par with the recent Liverpool Champions League final win, only this time, i was filled with dissapointment of what 'might have been'. Sitting down and experiencing wave and wave of excitement, tension, boringness, mind fucked ness and so on and so forth, really taxes the body. I don't even feel excited to watch the Brazil v France game!

P.S This is probably a good time for Cristiano Ronaldo to head off out of England, to Real Madrid or something. I don't forsee him surviving in England long after scoring the winning penalty.
