Star Trek: Voyager

the starship voyager, what a beauty

In case i havent mentioned to anyone, me and my brother have been collecting a shitload of DVD's recently. You could say we've gone DVD mad. His girlfriend aint helping either. I think she has gotten him Season 1 of Angel and Seasons 1 and 2 of Millenium also. Add to that the Futurama, Carnivale, Stargate Atlantis, Battlestar Galactica and tons more individual movie titles that we have, it makes for an impressive collection. Oh, lets not forget the final season (season7) of Star Trek Voyager that i bought here.

the cast of the show

We even went into a mini DVD frenzy in Penang recently. Spent Rm200 just on DVD's. His gf's brother bought Smallville, my bro got a couple of movies and Season 1 of Star Trek: Enterprise, while i got a few individual titles.

Anyway, back to the matter of hand. Been watching Voyager for a couple days now. I've seen in already before years ago, but it seems like years ago. The whole idea really captivates me. In case you're wondering, the story behind Voyager is like no other Star Trek show. What happens is that on their MAIDEN voyage aka first mission, they somehow get throw millions and millions and millions of light years away from the Alpha Quadrant (this is where you, me, Spock and the Klingons live) into an uncharted quadrant called the Delta Quadrant.

schematic style views

Their all alone, with no Federation (thats like the United Nations, with the exeption that the Federation really works) around for help, isolated, and they dont know anyone around the neighbourhood. It gets worse, at their maximum speed, it would take them a few hundred years to reach the Alpha Quadrant. So you see why i find this so exciting. Its exciting damnit. Just agree with me. You dont want to see an angry Trekker. Dont call us trekkies, its insulting you phtak!. I think thats Klingon for 'asshole'.

the doctor

I think the star of the show, throughout, was The Doctor played by Robert Beltran. The Doctor was the Emergency Medical Hologram, and this hologram, was only meant to be used in emergencies, for a VERY short time. But because the real human doctor died, The Doctor became a permanent member of the crew. Filled with sarcasm and indirect humor, its easy to think he had the best lines in the entire show.

this sorta happens in the final season

And no outdated Voyager review would be complete without at least a picture of the woman that made more perverts love this whole show than anything could in the history of Star Trek:

Yes, its the teacher from Boston Public, Jeri Ryan. Her character made lots of men stand up, pun intended. Seven of Nine, you can assimilate me anytime. Haha!

All in all, i thoroughly enjoyed all 7 seasons of Star Trek Voyager. It had plenty of interesting story arcs and action. The last episode was one of the saddest days in my life. Ok, it wasnt that bad, but i was sad. I miss this show. I think i;m going to sleep before i get anymore emotional!
