Its sad really, that there will be no Star Wars movies to look forward to after ROTS. Thats how i felt this morning, and the drive back from the premiere.
The movie itself was good. I would say it was deffinately an improvement over the previous 2. The cheesy lines still cropped up here and there though. But the movie picks up, and really catches you when it becomes darker, and we slowly see young Anakin fall deeper and deeper into the Dark Side. George Lucas deffinately excels in expressing the darker side of Star Wars.
I wont mention about the graphics much, because it was its usual awesome CG that we've come to expect over the last 2 movies. I would say that they've improved Yoda quite a bit, especially his lightsaber duels as he doesnt look quite as comical. Also the transition between 20-foot leaping computer animated Jedi's to the real actors is seamless. It 'almost' looks as if the actors were the ones jumping 20 feet while slashing away at their foes with lightsabers.
Queen Amidala (or is it princess? Senator) didn't do much, but there was more emotion in her character this time around. You could almost feel the hurt inside her as she saw Anakin drifting away towards to Dark Side.
This was probably the darkest movie of all, because children, or 'young-lings' as they are referred to in the movie, get killed by Anakin, who has then become Darth Vader. I dont remember children getting murdered in the other movies.
Count Dooku and General Grievous were major dissapointments. Dooku fell so easily to Anakin. Grievous was just all show as well, didnt stand up long to Obi-Wan. And this guy was supposed to be a Jedi Killer. Geez. He was much for formidable and scarier in the Clone Wars animated series. You know, thinking back, perhaps the directors for Clone Wars should have directed this one. On the whole, the Clone Wars was way way darker than ROTS.
OH, anyone who wants to know what happened between Episode II and Episode III (ROTS) must watch the Clone Wars.
The cinema we were watching it in sucked. There was no THX. The sound system was fucked up, it went off about 3-4 times. The audience complained a bit, but we amused ourselves by dubbing the scenes with the help of the subtitles and a little creativity. I must deffinately get tickets in the Summit THX and watch it again. I think Jason Lo was seated behind us though.
Well, as they say, all good things must come to end, and the same for the Star Wars saga. At final scene of the movie, i felt like i couldnt wait to watch Episode IV (again!!). When you feel that, then this movie was a deffinate success in my book. The Force is strong in Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith.
