Nicol David wins yet another tournament!

I'm surpised we haven't made her a Datuk yet, and given her ownership of the state of Penang. Congrats Nicol! You continue to do us proud!

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia's two-time world champion Nicol David secured her sixth World Tour title of the year at the Frans Otten Stadion in Amsterdam yesterday.

The world number one scored a relatively easy win over third seed Australia's Rachael Grinham in the final of the Dutch Open. The top seeded Nicol won the match 9-4, 9-1, 9-6 in just 34 minutes.

Nicol only faced stiffer resistance from Rachael in the third game. They were neck and neck until 6-6 before Nicol stepped up the pace to seal the match.

In the semi-finals on Saturday, Nicol, who is based at the Squash City Centre in Amsterdam, was also in devastating form – crushing fourth seeded American Natalie Grainger 9-2, 9-4, 9-2.

In contrast, Rachael had to slog to reach the final – upsetting her younger sister, Natalie, 9-4, 6-9, 9-6, 9-2.

It was Nicol's third consecutive win this year after claiming the Malaysian Open (July) and Singapore Masters last month. She is now unbeaten in 12 consecutive professional matches.

Nicol's other World Tour titles this year were the Kuala Lumpur Open (March), Kuwait Open and Qatar Classic (April). Her only defeat this season was by Natalie in the final of the Seoul City Open in April.

Nicol's next tournament is the British Open in Manchester.
