I recently watched The Last Samurai aka The Last Good Tom Cruise Movie. It may not have been a true story, but it was a good story. I really love this movie, but not because the white guy always survives. If you look behind the bull shit like
- a white hero saving the asians
- the white guy never gets shot while the asians get slaughtered like pigs
- the white guy learns all the asians skill and kicks the asians ass
- the white guy is more leng chai.
- the white guy gets the chick.
Never forget who we are.
Don't be in such a rush to be a " kwai lo" (did i spell that right?) . Its particularly more relevant to me....because i dont even know my own culture very well. I can't blady speak my language. Its embarrasing at times. I swear this will change soon.
I remember one line in the movie, where the handsome Captain was being held in the Samurai village. He was observing their daily routines, and he writes in his journal something like ...
" From the moment they wake, they devote themselves to the perfection of whatever they do.. "
I dont know if that is true for Japanese people, but it sounds amazing to be able to do that. Why? I dont know. Maybe you know why. Its single minded ness? Watching that movie, i wished i was the Captain.
Well, thats partly because he gets the babe. I take that back. Calling her a babe sounds like an insult. Her character was the type of woman any man would fall in love with. Strong, but elegant. Smart. Devoted. I think the part that impressed me the most was elegance. Gracefull. Thats a big change from some girls these days...flashy (in more ways than one), loud, obnoxious.
The movie kinda makes me wanna learn Japanese.
(Mental Note: Learn you own fucking language first boy!)

Looks like nobody's blog is safe from all these 'spammers'...argghh.
Anyway, The Last Samurai was pretty entertaining, sans the bull shit elements as mentioned in your point above. And yea, the jap girl was hot!
