My Notebook

Ok, well since i;m getting my notebook soon, i have to consider what i want to have on the machine.

One of the most important considerations is the OS. The Dells come with XP Home Edition. *choke*. No way Jose. That aint gonna cut it. What will cut it is a Linux OS. I havent settled on the distribution yet, but i'm leaning heavily to Ubuntu after reading this review.

I first heard about it from my manager, who is currently using it. I have a great deal of respect for my manager, as firstly, he is a Liverpool fan. HAHAHA..no, but seriusly, he is a certified IT guru and has vast knowledge about anything remotely IT. He also plays soccer and can drink alcohol like a horse. How can you not respect a guy like that? Check out the screen shot below.

All i remember about compaq is that they were known to have horrible tech support.

I think theyre much better now though. A colleague of mine just bought a second hand compaq.

Generally speaking, most of these branded ones are of the same standard. The ones that stand-out in terms of quality is IBM and Dell in my opinion though.

However, check out http://notebookshop.com.my to see other brands. have fun! :)
