The new friendster blog certainly sux. Its so damned slow. Its either that or streamyx seems to be fucking up again. There was an article in thestar papers today, so its most likely my streamyx connections.

Streamyx, *sigh*, another example of malaysian's short sightedness. As the pioneer, and leading broadband connection provider in Malaysia, theyre service really sux. First off, i had to wait 3 months to get my connection, i believe this was about a year back, and i recently read a complaint in the newspapers about this same thing thats still happening.

The Malaysian attitude in business is "only improve your service is MANY people complain". Even if one person complains, just butter ass, and carry on with the fucked up service. I've talked about this with a great many friends and relatives, and they all agree that this is how business is done in Malaysia.

There is no such thing as "customer comes first". I recall the time i was in Secret Recipe (its a local franchise restaurant business) with my ex-galpal. I ordered their Lamb Stew (i love it!) and she ordered the Fish & Chips (i love it too, but the Lamb Stew more). We are both more or less Secret Recipe regulars, and have ordered their Fish & Chips on numerous occasions and in numerous different branches. So its no exxageration to say that we KNOW how a real Secret Recipe Fish & Chips should taste like.

Well, our orders came, and digged in. Then she gave me that look, like something didnt quite seem right. Its like Spiderman's Spidersense. Looking back at that scene, i wouldnt be suprised if she suddenly hurled herself at me to save me from the car that was crashing through the restaurant, no thanks to Doc Octopussy.

But no, nothing of the sort happened. The Fish & Chips tasted weird, and i took a bite, and agreed with her expert assessment. So i called the waiter, and ask for a new one.

His response didnt suprise me, as a Malaysian, i have become quite numb to it. He had the nerve to ask in Bahasa Melaya, why we had eaten the Fish & Chips. I mean, come on, how are we gonna to know its bad just by looking at it? If he could, perhaps he shouldnt have given it to us to eat it...geez. The Fish & Chips looked perfectly normal to us. As our friendly waiter walked away with the dish, i could hear him mutter somewords to himself.

I know this is no where near some of the horror stories some of you have experienced, but this is merely an example, sorta like the tip of the iceberg.

Back to streamyx bashing, its simple. Supply and Demand. Demand and Supply. The situation right now is, there is too much demand and too little supply. If people have been complaining about it for a year plus, then i really dont have to say anymore. The reason why TMnet continues to slack towards improving customer service and quality is simple. They are government back, and the only quality supplier of broadband services in Malaysia. No doubt Jaring and the other small fries are starting to provide broadband services, but there is no way they can compete with TMnet, and very people will take the risk of signing up for a service that isnt trustworthy.

TMnet knows this, if fully aware of this, and will continue to stuff dry grass up our ass and smoke it while me suffer the indignity of it all.
