Linux

I'm a sys admin dammit.

How can i NOT know how to use Linux? How can i hope to get anywhere in my current job unless i learn up this OS?

learning to use a new OS, is like learning a new language. Like any language, you know they have nouns, pronouns, verbs, and all that basic fundamental stuff. But to put all those together to make meaningful words and sentences that communicate something bigger than itself is not easy.

Just like how learning languages is not easy for me (i think it is, though i havent really tried to learn anything new), learning to use Linux wont be easy. Bare in mind, that my final goal is not just to use it for normal desktop purposes, but to learn the usual sys admin stuff, like setting up web/email/app servers, security and all that.

And just like everything else i've tried to do with my life, i'm procrastinating. Even writing this blog is a form of procrastination. I've been procrastinating since i stopped reading that "QUICK HOWTO: Configuring DNS" for linux at page 6.

  • writing this
  • had a cigaratte with colleagues outside the office
  • write more of this
  • glanced to the guide, and wrote more of this
  • looked for interesting torrent files to download.
Ok, fuck all this. I'm not gonna procrastinate no more. I'll start after watching the Champions League Highlight Show for yesterdays games (Lyon 7 - Werder Bremen 2??? What kind of CL score is that? The Chelseas v Barcelona should have been a final...5-4 on aggregate..fucking Chelsea) i've just downloaded. Follow the link if you wanna download it.

Come on dude...another 16 pages more to go. I can do it.
