Kewell to Bayern?

Reports are eminating from who knows where that Kewell is to be offloaded to Bayern Munich, as Ze Roberto is leaving (leaving where?? How come i've never heard of this. To Perak FC maybe).

I've always liked Kewell, had a soft spot for him, and hoped that he would replicate the amazing form and skill he had during his time at Leeds. A Harry Kewell at full flow was the best, if not better than any winger in the Premiership. Many pundits heaped praise upon praise on the next "ryan giggs". It was a breathtaking watching the skill and style of the aussie lad as he terrorized defences in the Premiership, and even in the Champions League in that one season when they nearly went all the way only to be halted by the mighty AC Milan.

"If only", or "What if". Those are the questions that would surely run in the minds of any loyal Liverpool fan, because we know how much we needed a decent winger. To get a player of Kewell's calibre was almost like winning the Carling Cup itself, because he chose us over a number of higher profile suitors, namely Arsenal, Manure and Chelsea. But even then, there were "speculation that speculated" that one of the reasons he chose Liverpool was because

  1. He would be guarenteed a first team place, whereas he would have to contend with Ryan Giggs (Manure) or Gronkjaer/Duff/Cole (Chelsea) or Robert Pires (Arsenal)
  2. He is paid more at Liverpool than he would at the other clubs.
Being the person that i am, i wont say that those are total and utter lies of behemoth porportions. What i will say is that it is possible. And judging by some of his performances of late, and the lack of conviction in some of his words in the press, it becomes all the more likely that the press are true.

Well, lets give him a chance, the benefit of the doubt if you will. For starters, the press and tabloids are not the kind of source to be trusted. It wouldnt be the first time they tried to start a fire in a rainy place with no oxygen and no fire wood and nothing to burn. And the press are mostly full of what the British would call "utter bollocks". Or my friend Leen would say that.

  1. Kewell started his first season magnificently, scoring goals, which eventually dried up. Something happened.
  2. That something was an injury, i believe an ankle injury, that never quite healed, or got the proper treatment. This was mainly because Liverpool severely needed good players to play, and had to play a semi-injured Kewell. Lets face it, a semi-injured Kewell is better than most players. Or so we thought.
So, well, what are the alternatives should Kewell go. Plenty if i should say. Riise has been banging in the goals with lots of skill. Confidence is high. Garcia is another who could play left wing. Lets not forget local bred boy Warnock, whom i like a lot, and cant believe Houllier never played him.

Warnock has got tenacity and grit, much like Gerrard. He's left footed and can play left back and left wing. Some of his crossing has been of the highest order! I hope he makes it, because it would be refreshing to see the new blood make a place in one of soccers most historical club.
